Jolie Holland LIVE at Music for Picture
Our first New Music Review LIVE event was a success! Jolie Holland performed a private show at our studio with the equally talented Shahzad Izmaily, who went from drums to bass to guitar in the span of their five-song set. After two years of compiling the best and brightest for our clients every quarter, we are now bringing some of these talented artists to our studio for unique and intimate performances. Featured on our new Fall sampler, Jolie Holland is in a league of rare singer-songwriters with Gillian Welch, M. Ward, and Tom Waits who manage to create a timelessness in their often dark narratives. (She's featured this week in Time Out New York.) Also on the Fall New Music Review CD are Adron, Department of Eagles, Minotaur Shock, and much more.

Project Jenny, Project Jan
It's been busy recently for Music for Picture producer Sammy Rubin and his band Project Jenny, Project Jan. Having just returned from a tour in Europe supporting their friends in Fujiya & Miyagi, Sammy and his band-mate Jeremy Haines can now be heard and seen in "Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist" alongside Devandra Banhart, Vampire Weekend, as well as Music for Picture alums We Are Scientists and Bishop Allen (they've both recorded here). In the film you can see PJPJ under the pseudonym Are You Randy. The full track, "Negative", appears on the soundtrack alongside many artists we've featured on the New Music Review over the years.

Recent Work: Wrangler in Brett Favre's Own Words
Brett Favre the "brand" is about as down-home as they come. But that certainly hasn't stopped New York and New Jersey from adopting him as a new hometown hero. Even before his big opening victory, fans were welcoming the guy with open arms. We'd like to think we're doing our part as well, scoring his latest spot for the equally down-home Wrangler Jeans. Composers Dan Miller and Marty Beller helped us with the roadhouse rocker for The Favre.
